Welcome to Taranaki's Women's A-Cappella Barbershop Chorus!
We meet weekly on a Wednesday night at Inglewood’s Mamaku Community Centre at 7 pm. Every night is an open night, but the first Wednesday of each month is especially designated for anyone interested.
We sing in four-part harmony. For women, the parts are Bass, Baritone, Lead, and Tenor from the lowest voice to highest. The combination of voices is amazing to hear and to be a part of!
A mixture of modern, traditional, and popular music gives every singer the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful variety of music available.
We are affiliated with Sweet Adelines International (SAI), which is an American-based organisation for barbershop chorus and quartet groups, as well as the New Zealand branch (SANZ).
This association provides coaching on voice improvement, presentation skills, teaching and music resources, and competition opportunities. SAI is our main source of arranged music with sound-tracks to aid practise.
